Philippians 4:19 ~ And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
This week I almost allowed a spirit of frustration prevent me from seeing God’s favor in a situation. I was attempting to disconnect an old refrigerator so that the Salvation Army could come pick it up but the connection on the valve was sealed shut and I couldn’t turn it and did not have a wrench. As my single lady friends can attest, it can be hard sometimes to find help when we need it. But God provided for me. As I was taking the trash out, the gentleman that handles the property management was also at the trash bin. I spoke and then started walking away, but the Holy Spirit said ask him if he has a wrench. He did and came over to help me; however in the process the valve broke which then turned into an emergency call for a plumber. But he didn’t abandon me; he continued to help me get the refrigerator out the door, which involved having to remove the refrigerator doors and a closet door. About an hour later, we had the refrigerator outside just in time for Salvation Army to pick it up.
My frustration started building up as I lamented on how hard it can be for a single woman, and that now I had to pay for a plumber on top of everything else. However, the Holy Spirit quickly spoke to me and showed me how God showed me favor in this situation that I had clearly underestimated what it take to complete. He provided someone to help me. If the valve had not broken the maintenance guy would have most likely just kept going when the water hose was disconnected, leaving me to get a refrigerator out that I obviously could not do on my own. And as for the valve, that most likely would have broken anyway because of the age of the connector. So the need for a plumber would have most likely still been there.
My lesson this week is God stays true to His promises, that even in our challenges He is always there for us. The question is do we take the time to actually see it.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for being Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. Forgive us when we get so frustrated by the situations that we don’t take the time to see You in it all. Amen.
Purpose in Action: What challenges did you have this past week? Take the time to reflect on the situation and see how God provided for you in it all.
For His Purpose,
LiKeisha
