Psalm 143:10 ~ Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
One of the biggest struggles that we all have, is the fight against our own will. By nature, we are all sinners, and we come in this world wanting our way. As babies, we quickly learned that if we were hungry or needed changing, our cry would get someone’s attention to meet our need. As toddlers, we learned that tantrums would sometimes help us get our way. We continued looking for and learning different ways to get what we wanted straight into adulthood. Let’s face, we like to get our way.
But if our way, or our will, is not aligned with God’s word, we can be headed on a disastrous path. That is why, just like David, we should ask God to teach us to do His will. God designed us for a purpose but in order to learn and prepare for our God-given purpose, we must allow Him to teach us. Just like we learned our career disciplines by going to classes and having on the job learning experiences, similarly we must be intentional about learning God’s way. We must surrender to God’s teaching so that we can live holy lives that are pleasing to our Father. When we become intentional about praying, studying God’s word, and listening to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, God will lead us on level ground.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to do Your will. I pray that I can clearly hear the Holy Spirit’s guidance and that I will not allow fear or doubt keep me from following Your path. Amen.
Purpose In Action: How open are you to God’s teaching? Or are you still trying to do things your way? Pray for God to reveal His truth to you.
For His Purpose,
