Isaiah 40:31 ~ But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
For years I have heard people say don’t pray for patience, because you are asking God to bring trials in your life. Well, I have learned that whether you pray for it or not, God has a way of bringing things, people or circumstances into your life to help shape you into the person He desires you to be. And that even means helping you to become more patient.
When I woke up this morning, Juanita Bynum’s song “I Don’t Mind Waiting” was on my mind. Truth is I “do” mind waiting. There are areas in my life that I struggle being patient. Like many of you, I have had seasons where it was a challenge to wait on God. Unfortunately, the not waiting normally results in you missing out on or the delay of God’s best.
So in those areas of our lives in which we struggle we cannot be afraid to bring them to God. We must be willing to go to God like David in Psalm 139:23-24, where he says
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.”
When we surrender ourselves to God, He can then transform and conform us for His purpose and destiny. And, yes, that includes growing in patience and waiting on God’s best for us.
Prayer: Lord. I pray to be a better “waiter”; to be content in the times that you tell me to wait. Please help me to trust that what You are preparing me for is far better than anything that I could think, ask or imagine. Amen.
Purpose in Action: What are you struggling with being patient about? Take it to God in prayer and ask Him to help you wait for Him.
For His Purpose,
