Psalm 23:4 ~ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
When we are in our “valley” experiences things can seem dark and dismal, and some times we may feel like we are dying or even wish that we were dead because of the pain we experience. However, in verse 4 of the 23rd Psalm, David reminds us that even in our “valleys”, God, our Good Shepherd is with us; therefore we should not be fearful. We must turn our face towards God and keep our eyes on Him.
God provides His holy “rod and staff” to pull, direct, and keep us on His righteous path. He uses it to guide us through the dark places of our lives. He uses it to prune and prepare us. He uses it to strengthen our faith and trust in Him. So even though we may be having valley or dark experiences – loss of loved ones, disappointments, health issues, depression, failed or strained relationships, of financial problems; God promises to comfort us. He promises to never leave or forsake us. With these promises, we can overcome our fears and trust that God’s ultimate plan for our lives is for good.
So whatever struggles or obstacles you are faced with today, trust that God is walking with you and take comfort in Him.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for continuing to walk with us; guiding us through the good and the bad. Thanks for the comfort that You provide in our valley experiences. We trust that through those experiences our faith is strengthen and You are glorified.
Purpose in Action: Are you in the midst of a “valley” experience? Be open and transparent with God and allow Him to bring the comfort and guidance that you need in this season. I am praying for each of you.
For His Purpose,
