Are you in need of rest? We can get so busy with our everyday lives that we become weary and frustrated. However, when we reflect on the 2nd verse of the 23rd Psalm, we are reminded that the Lord will provide for us as “he maketh me to lie down in green pastures.” Sheep require green pastures on which to graze. When you picture a “green pasture” can’t you just visualize the lusciousness of the grass; the glistening dew that provides coolness to the touch and the nourishment and rest that the sheep need. As God’s sheep, this verse reminds us that God will provide all that we need. He makes provisions for us and sets an environment that fits our ever need. He will provide a place of rest and security. My “green pasture” may not look like yours; but trust that God has orchestrated our “pastures” to fit His purpose for our individual lives. He cares just that much for each of His sheep.
As our Shepherd, He leads us beside the still waters; He will lead us to a place of peace, love and joy. God is not a God of confusion. When we surrender our will to His, He will lead us to a place of harmony. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not to your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Prayer: Lord, thank you for making me lie down in the “green pasture” that you have provided specifically for me. I take rest in You. I surrender to your will as you lead me beside still waters. Amen.
Purpose in Action: Take some time to reflect on the “green pastures” that God has provided for you. Give Him thanks and praise.
For His Purpose,
