Psalm 28:7 ~ The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
Do you want to know what my most common prayer is these days? “Lord, help me.” I pray this prayer not because everything is so chaotic that I don’t know what else to say (but I do have those moments too); however, I pray this prayer often through out the day because I am learning that I can’t do what needs to be done without God. He is the source of my strength; He is my protector. I’m not smart or wise enough to do what God asks of me in my own ability. But He has shown me time and time again, when I surrender and put my trust in Him, all things are possible.
Recently, I was feeling really anxious about an upcoming meeting because I felt that due to other obligations I had not had enough time to properly prepare. This was a pretty tough client that asks detail questions. So I prepared my notes as best as possible and walked into the meeting saying my prayer, “Lord, help me.” Well, the client walks in obviously ill and not feeling well. He apologized for his health condition and we push through the meeting. He still had a few questions but definitely not the interrogation style that I have experienced before. So the meeting goes much easier than I could have ever expected.
I know that seems like a simple example, but that is one of the many ways I see God’s favor in my daily life. It is through those moments that my heart continues to build its trust in God. It is in those moments when my heart leaps for joy because I see and experience just how much God loves me. Yes, there is great joy when God performs the obviously “big” miracles in our lives, but to me there is also such a special intimacy with God when He shows Himself in the everyday moments that give my heart a special song of praise.
Prayer: Lord, help us. Help us to not overlook the “everyday” moments in which You show us that You are here for us. Help us always to be mindful of where our strength comes from and to keep our trust in You. Amen.
Purpose in Action: What “everyday” moments are you thankful for today? I would love to hear them, please share here in the comments.
