Why is it so hard for some of our brothers and sisters to be supportive of one another? God has given each one of us gifts and talents. He has a specific purpose for each one of us. Why are we wasting time being jealous of someone else’s gift and blessings versus using that energy to focus on developing the gifts that God has given us? We all have a pivotal part as members of the body of Christ. If you are the “eyes” and I am the “hands”, our abilities are completely different but both are still valuable and instrumental. Why should I be jealous of your ability to see when I can touch? Instead of wishing I could see; I should enjoy the blessing of being able to feel. And more importantly, if we come together and use our gifts to complement one another, we both can experience in the abundance of the blessings of our combined gifts.
So many people allow their lives to just whittle away and don’t live to their full potential because they don’t take the time to focus on their own gifts. And then there are others that are so selfish with their gifts that they don’t want to share with others. Both circumstances are tragic. Just like the scripture states, wasting time feeding a jealous spirit is like cancer in the bones. It’s self-destructing and will kill your potential dreams. Do not miss out on the joy and peace that could be yours if you would only focus your time and energy on allowing God to develop you for your purpose. He designed us with special gifts and talents. It is our responsibility to utilize them for His purpose and His glory.
Prayer: Lord, we thank you for the gifts and talents that you have bestowed on each of us. We bind up the spirit of jealousy and pray that our hearts are open to You developing our gifts for Your purpose. We then pray against a selfish spirit that would hinder us from sharing our gifts and talents with others. We know that we all have a role to play and that when we join together we are better able to reach others for You. In all that we do, we pray that You are glorified. Amen.
Purpose in Action: Be honest with yourself. Are there some areas or a situation in which jealousy is at the root of the problem? Trust that what God has for you is for you and focus on your own gifts and blessings.
For His Purpose,
