Philippians 3:12-14 ~ N
ot that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to mahke it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

I am sure we all experienced highs and lows in 2014. Through our many life lessons over the years, we know that we will experience both mountaintop and valley experiences in 2015. But if we keep pressing forward holding on to our faith and trusting in God, we can still have God’s peace and joy through whatever experiences lie ahead of us. However, we cannot let the past weigh us down. We cannot hold on to past hurts and mistakes. Those burdens are too heavy and will hinder us from moving forward. We lighten our load through forgiveness. We must forgive those that have hurt or disappointed us. We must forgive ourselves and release any feelings of guilt or condementation. And if we are harboring any unforgiveness towards God because He didn’t move in a way that we felt He should have, we must release that as well. Unforgiveness holds us back; Love propels us forward. When we put love in action, the walls we have put around our hearts begin to fall and when our hearts are no longer blocked and closed off, God can use us in greater ways. We each have different paths and purposes, but God ultimately called all of us to love. We know this because when asked what is the greatest commandment, Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it; Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-39). So as we embark on this new year, it will be God’s love for us and our love for Him, others, and ourselves that will help us to press on toward the goal.
Prayer: Lord, we know that since You have left us here on earth that You still have a plan and a purpose for us. We pray for Your wisdom, guidance, and direction to keep us aligned with Your plan. Open our hearts so that we may give and receive love. We surrender to You and pray that we may be used for Your purpose and that Your will may be done.
Purpose in Action: List out the ways you plan to better show love in action during 2015.
For His Purpose,
