2 Corinthians 3:4-5 (NIV) ~ Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything ourselves, but our competence comes from God.
We all have moments when thoughts of doubt, insecurities and fear pop into our minds. Such as thinking we are not good enough or smart enough. I struggle with being confidant in many areas of my life, especially in relationships. I hate confrontation and because of my lack of confidence in this area I avoid addressing confrontational issues with people. This weakness of mine has caused me, and others, much pain. But I am learning to change my focus to the Source of my strength. With God’s help, doubts, insecurities and fears can melt away.
When the fear, doubt or insecure thoughts pop up, we can train our minds to recognize that we are thinking negatively and then actively work to change our thoughts and our actions to something more positive. How do I do this you ask? Well, when we pray, memorize scripture and have regular devotional time, the word of God begins to grow in our spirit and we can then recall those words of encouragement when needed. Also, we can always find strength, when we reflect on how God has blessed us in the past.
Remember, God has given us the Holy Spirit to be our comforter and our guide. Our Father does not want us to be seen as weak, but rather He takes joy in seeing us be confident in who we are as His children. There is something special about a humble confidence. That term may sound like an oxymoron to many. However, God desires us to be confident in Him, but humble enough to recognize that without Him we will surely fail. So I encourage you today, to step out boldly and live your life as the confident person God designed you to be. God has a plan and purpose for each of us and we must pursue that purpose with confidence.
Prayer: Lord, we humbly pray that in our weaknesses Your power will be made perfect. Amen.
Purpose in Action: What insecurities or confidence struggles are you dealing with today? Be specific about them and take them before God in prayer.
For His Purpose,
